About The Position

The Operating Room (OR) Registered Nurse (RN) at Baylor Scott & White Memorial Hospital is a licensed professional responsible for coordinating patient care in a fast-paced surgical environment. The RN works closely with anesthesia and surgeons to ensure safe intraoperative care for critically ill patients across various surgical specialties. Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program or 2 years of relevant work experience.
  • 2 years of nursing experience in a clinical setting.
  • Registered Nurse (RN) certification.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or obtain within 30 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a surgical or operating room setting.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and patient care standards.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical documentation systems.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct accurate assessments according to standards using clinical reasoning.
  • Identify and prioritize patient and family needs.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care plans.
  • Modify care plans to meet patient outcomes.
  • Evaluate the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice, including nursing indicators.
  • Support evidence-based practice changes through research and learning.
  • Create a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and families.
  • Develop therapeutic relationships while maintaining appropriate boundaries.
  • Manage emotional and physical pain to promote healing and prevent suffering.
  • Recognize and appreciate unique differences in patients and families, incorporating them into care plans.
  • Preserve and protect patient confidentiality, autonomy, dignity, and rights.
  • Facilitate learning for patients, families, and nursing staff.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to implement care plans.
  • Use problem-solving strategies for patient care.
