About the position
La Amistad Behavioral Health Services is a leader in the field of behavioral health care, treating individuals ranging from children and adolescents to adults. The Registered Nurse - Per Diem position is responsible for overseeing unit activities, supervising staff, administering medications, and providing educational groups.
Responsibilities
- Completes and documents comprehensive nursing assessment within 8 hours of patients' admission.
- Identifies patient's needs, problems, capabilities, and limitations supported by recorded assessment data.
- Interacts therapeutically with residents.
- Acts as a member of the multidisciplinary treatment team in planning care.
- Utilizes psychotherapeutic interventions to assist patients in regaining or improving coping abilities.
- Provides patient and family teaching in group settings and 1:1.
- Documents administration of medications according to established policies and procedures.
- Demonstrates understanding of Common Psychiatric Diagnoses and evaluates age-specific behaviors.
- Demonstrates Service Excellence with internal and external customers.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.
- Prefer one (1) year experience as a Registered Nurse.
- Prefer six (6) months in psychiatric nursing.
- Knowledge of current nursing procedures, the nursing process, medications and their correct administration.
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Florida.
- Current CPR Certification required.
- Demonstrate leadership, communication, teaching and management skills.
- Physically and mentally demanding work; must be able to lift over fifty (50 lbs.) pounds.
