About The Position

The position involves assisting the Director of Nursing Services in managing the daily operations of nursing activities in a long-term care facility. The role encompasses administrative, personnel, nursing care, and safety functions, ensuring compliance with regulations and quality care standards. The individual will participate in policy development, staff training, and quality assurance programs while also providing direct nursing care and support to residents.

Requirements

• Must possess a Nursing Degree from an accredited college or university.
• Must have training in rehabilitative and restorative nursing practices.
• 2 years or more experience in a long-term care facility preferred.
• Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Ability to apply mathematical concepts such as fractions and percentages to practical situations.
• Must possess independent decision-making abilities and problem-solving skills.
• Must have knowledge of nursing and medical practices and regulations.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge and experience with PCC preferred.
• Current CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Director of Nursing Services in directing daily nursing activities.
• Develop, maintain, and update nursing service policies and procedures.
• Ensure nursing reference materials are current and accessible.
• Make reports and recommendations to the Director regarding nursing operations.
• Participate in quality assurance programs for the nursing service department.
• Attend committee meetings and provide necessary reports.
• Ensure adequate staffing of licensed nurses and nursing assistants.
• Monitor compliance with job descriptions and departmental policies.
• Conduct daily rounds to ensure nursing staff are performing their duties.
• Participate in employee performance evaluations and disciplinary actions.
