About the position

Leprino Foods, a family-owned company since 1950 and the largest cheese producer in the United States, is seeking a Maintenance Manager for its Roswell, New Mexico manufacturing facility. This facility, which employs around 600 people, is integral to the company's operations and growth. The Maintenance Manager will play a crucial role in leading the Maintenance department, ensuring that all maintenance activities are executed efficiently and effectively to support the company's production goals. The position requires a strong focus on employee development, safety, and maintaining high productivity levels while managing costs. The Maintenance Manager will be responsible for implementing and maintaining programs related to technical training, safety, quality, and performance recognition. This role involves overseeing the work of Maintenance Supervisors, Purchasing Agents, Storeroom Supervisors, and the Reliability Team. The manager will actively lead performance management processes and foster a collaborative and positive work environment. Additionally, the Maintenance Manager will coordinate maintenance activities, analyze equipment needs, and develop preventive and predictive maintenance programs to ensure maximum equipment uptime. The role also includes managing the Maintenance department budget, ensuring that financial objectives are met while maintaining high standards of safety and productivity. The Maintenance Manager will be expected to build strong relationships across departments, particularly with production, to adapt to changing production needs and maintain operational efficiency. This position is vital for the continued growth and success of Leprino Foods, as it strives to meet customer specifications and government regulations while providing a safe and productive workplace for its employees.

Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership in the Maintenance department by implementing and maintaining programs in technical training, safety, quality, communications, performance recognition, and internal employee development to ensure peak employee productivity.
  • Responsible for outlining and managing the work of the Maintenance Supervisors, Purchasing Agent, Storeroom Supervisor, Planner/Schedulers and Reliability Team.
  • Actively leads the processes for performance management, employee development, and engagement.
  • Builds and fosters strong working relationships, collaborative teams and a positive work environment.
  • Implements company and plant policies fairly and consistently.
  • Integrates multiple sources of information and priorities, keeping in mind the future needs of the business.
  • Manages the planning and coordination of all maintenance activities in the facilities including analyzing equipment needs, investigating reliability issues, developing preventive/predictive maintenance programs.
  • Manages the maintenance process to assure maximum equipment uptime to meet company and customer specifications and government regulations.
  • Manages the MRO process to ensure that spare parts, components, and tools needed for maintenance are always available by ordering, forecasting, and monitoring material inventories.
  • Coordinates with production to meet changing production needs.
  • Maintains high productivity and cost effectiveness through proper scheduling of maintenance operations and workforce.
  • Leads the Maintenance department's safety program to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Provides employees with the training, equipment, and tools to be able to safely perform their jobs.
  • Manages the Maintenance department budget within established guidelines, ensuring financial objectives are met.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree preferably in Engineering, Industrial Maintenance or related field
  • 10+ years of experience in industrial maintenance
  • 5+ years of progressive leadership experience
  • 2+ Years of direct leadership over supervisors
  • Knowledge of equipment theory and history, electrical operations, advanced process controls, power generation, hydraulics, pneumatics, thermodynamics, welding, machining, maintenance scheduling.

Nice-to-haves

  • College Degree in Engineering, Industrial Maintenance or related field, or similar work experience in related industry
  • Dairy/Cheese or Food Manufacturing Experience Preferred
