About the position

The Day Care Aide position at Roy High School within the Weber School District is a part-time role dedicated to supervising and nurturing children aged 2 to 5 years. This position requires a commitment of 5.50 hours per day for 9 months of the year. Responsibilities

  • Nurturing and caring for young children.
  • Supervising and monitoring the safety of children.
  • Preparing and organizing meals and snacks for the children.
  • Helping children maintain good hygiene.
  • Organizing activities that allow children to learn about the world and explore their interests.
  • Developing and encouraging age-appropriate learning and socialization to ensure children learn basic skills and concepts, such as communication, manners, sharing, etc.
  • Maintaining a safe workplace by monitoring children for health, behavioral, and emotional issues and reporting concerns to staff and parents.
  • Ensuring children are learning positive behaviors and providing guidance or approved discipline, as needed.
  • Keeping records relating to child care.
  • Providing a safe space where high-schoolers can work/experience what it is like to work in a childcare/preschool setting.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Job related experience is required.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Minimum age: 18.
  • Current Food Handlers Permit.
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Additional licenses, certification and training are beneficial.
  • Ability to make decisions, have patience and stamina to chase after, lift or carry children.
  • Record of immunization and ability to pass a background check.
  • Exceptional communication, teaching and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong understanding of stages of childhood development.
  • Attentiveness to the needs and safety of children.

Nice-to-haves

  • Additional Education and experience is preferred.
  • Experience working with children in a daycare or educational setting.
