About the position

The Nuclear Reactor Service Technician is responsible for performing maintenance, fuel handling, modification, and inspection activities during refueling and maintenance outages at nuclear power plants. This role requires extensive travel and work in a controlled radioactive environment, primarily in the US, with some international travel. The technician will work closely with RF Engineers and report to the Refuel Floor Project Manager or Lead RF Engineer.

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance, fuel handling, modification, and inspection activities during refueling and maintenance outages.
  • Conduct nozzle flushing and in-vessel visual inspections.
  • Support fuel handling including full core off-loads and re-loads.
  • Operate fuel handling equipment and assist in vessel disassembly and reassembly activities.
  • Provide input on work performed and recommendations for improvements.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous nuclear experience, specifically BWR, is highly desired.
  • Experience as an RST for 3 or more outages is preferred.
  • Proficiency with computers for online training, communications, expense, and time entry.

Nice-to-haves

  • Valid Registered Sleep Technologist certification.
