About the position

The Safeguarding Flex Associate (FA) will support the entire Safeguarding Team to uphold and strengthen GiveDirectly's safeguarding systems across multiple projects in multiple countries. The Flex Associate will work primarily on global or multi-country systems and policy projects to continuously improve GiveDirectly's approach to safeguarding at global and country levels, as well as providing flex support to safeguarding operations as needed (e.g. new country launches). This role is crucial in ensuring that safeguarding practices are effectively implemented and maintained across various initiatives, contributing to the overall mission of GiveDirectly to provide cash grants directly to people living in extreme poverty. The Flex Associate will support the Safeguarding Director in managing the team's pipeline of improvement projects. This includes driving project management, ensuring that team and internal stakeholders meet deadlines, identifying process challenges, and proposing solutions. The Flex Associate will lead a portfolio of improvement projects, creating and owning their project management plans and managing coordination with internal stakeholders. Additionally, the Flex Associate will track and report on safeguarding data and metrics, ensuring that the organization maintains a high standard of safeguarding practices. In terms of safeguarding operations, the Flex Associate will act as a safeguarding advisor to country programs and other internal stakeholders, particularly in new countries that do not yet have in-country safeguarding support. This role will involve updating and adapting safeguarding training materials and guidance, conducting safeguarding trainings with GD teams, and serving as an additional Safeguarding focal point for programs that may be under-staffed or under-resourced. The Flex Associate will also support the team in identifying risks, creating comprehensive safeguarding risk registers, and developing mitigation efforts and responses. As needed, the Flex Associate will manage safeguarding cases, collaborating with internal audit, HR, and other relevant stakeholders to resolve safeguarding cases that may arise. The Flex Associate will become an expert in GiveDirectly's tech systems and processes (Salesforce, Taroworks, Asana, etc.) to support safeguarding case management execution and identify systems improvements. Administrative tasks such as booking logistics for team trips and coordinating internal events/workshops will also be part of the responsibilities, along with providing support on ad hoc strategy projects or team planning in support of the Safeguarding Director.
