We offer career opportunities where you can contribute and grow. In our Sales and Marketing department, we are looking for a property and casualty field territory underwriter. This field-based role is critical in evaluating, assessing, and pricing risks while leading profitable growth for our agency partners in your territory. This position is specifically for our Boston, Massachusetts territory, and positions serving territories away from our headquarters in Fairfield, Ohio are fully remote. The starting pay for this position ranges from $108,000 to $182,400 annually, with a competitive compensation package based on the applicant's education, experience, location, knowledge, skills, and abilities. Eligible associates may also receive an annual cash bonus and stock incentives based on company and individual performance.

Responsibilities

  • Underwrite by analyzing risks, pricing, negotiating, and making informed decisions on commercial business.
  • Sell and solicit business across all available business units within the territory to build strong, diverse agency relationships.
  • Lead territory in strategic plan development, ownership, and execution of enterprise-wide growth and profit within the territory, including new agency appointments.
  • Achieve deep relationships with and understanding of each assigned agency relationship to build a diverse and profitable portfolio.
  • Provide leadership by partnering with and leading other field disciplines within designated agency relationships to ensure their success through communication, support, and collaboration with team members.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, market conditions, emerging risks, and primary competitors, effectively communicating and making informed decisions based on this information.

Requirements

  • Willingness to travel and visit agencies within the territory regularly.
  • Strategic business plan development skills.
  • Passion for leading and a valid driver's license.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Proven experience in underwriting, with a minimum of 2 years of commercial underwriting experience (more than 3 years preferred).
  • Relevant insurance industry certifications (e.g., Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) or Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), professional selling) are a plus.
