About the position

The Sales Manager at Neiman Marcus Group plays a pivotal role in enhancing the sales experience within a designated store department. This position is centered around fostering partnerships across various departments, driving the team towards achieving sales goals, and leveraging team skills to create a customer-oriented sales environment. The Sales Manager is expected to embody the values and vision of Neiman Marcus while acting as a steward of the brand. This role requires on-site presence at the assigned location and reports directly to a Senior Group Manager. In this capacity, the Sales Manager will be responsible for driving maximum sales and growth by collaborating with other functional leads within the department. This includes overseeing all aspects of merchandise management and communication with merchant and vendor partners, which encompasses presentation, returns, and damages. The Sales Manager must adeptly manage team execution, proactively anticipating and addressing risks and roadblocks to ensure smooth operations within the department. Additionally, the Sales Manager will contribute to the strategic goals of the store by setting priorities for each department. Regular reviews of business performance with applicable Buyers will be conducted to discuss action plans aimed at producing positive results. The role also involves developing a deep understanding of customer behaviors, trends, and preferences, allowing for adjustments in processes and standards to enhance customer engagement. Budget planning and compliance with operational guidelines are critical components of this role, ensuring that operating expenses are minimized while maximizing revenue. The Sales Manager will also oversee the management of people, product placement, and sales promotions within the department, ensuring a cohesive and effective sales strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Drive towards the achievement of maximum sales and growth following company vision and values in partnership with other functional leads for department.
  • Oversee all aspects of merchandise and communications with merchant and vendor partners (e.g., presentation, returns, and damages).
  • Manage team execution, anticipating and adjusting for risks and roadblocks to maintain within department(s).
  • Contribute to strategic goals for the store and set priorities by department.
  • Review business with applicable Buyers for department and discuss action plans to produce positive results.
  • Establish plans and strategies in partnership with Client Development Lead(s).
  • Develop understanding of and analyze internal and external customer behaviors, trends, and preferences, adjusting processes and standards accordingly (e.g., focus programs).
  • Plan and complete departmental budgets and ensure guidelines are being followed to minimize operating expenses and maximize revenue.
  • Support audit compliance to enforce department and stockroom controls, as applicable.
  • Manage people, product and placement, and sales promotion within department.

Requirements

  • 4-6 years of relevant experience, particularly in luxury retail fashion.
  • Proven track record of achieving results in a sales environment.
  • History of building, leading, motivating, and coaching teams effectively.
  • Possess a 'win together' mentality to foster teamwork and collaboration.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
