About the position

The Sales Manager at Virginian Lodge will assist the Director of Sales in developing marketing strategies, managing sales plans, and overseeing the annual budget. This role is crucial in driving revenue through effective sales techniques and maintaining high visibility in the local market. The Sales Manager will work closely with the special events team and participate in community events to achieve sales goals.

Responsibilities

  • Meet or exceed booking goals for local corporate, incentive group markets, and military/government.
  • Initiate and follow up on leads.
  • Coordinate group and transient bookings to maximize profits.
  • Maintain and participate in an active sales solicitation program.
  • Attend weekly staff meetings.
  • Assist in the preparation of required reports.
  • Coordinate all non-group transient sales and catering solicitations to maximize overall profits.
  • Monitor production of all accounts and evaluate trends within the markets.
  • Familiarize with all Springboard sales policies and selling techniques to maximize occupancy, ADR, and Banquet and Catering revenues.
  • Conduct site inspections of the hotel with clients and FAMs.
  • Develop strategies to increase market share from competitors.
  • Meet and greet onsite contacts.
  • Attend all-employee meetings and functions required by management.
  • Develop networking opportunities through active participation in community and professional associations, activities, and events.
  • Create plans to address negative market trends.
  • Prospect new clients.
  • Regularly contact existing accounts.
  • Invite clients to the hotel for entertainment, lunches, tours, and site inspections.
  • Assist in implementing special promotions.
  • Prepare presentations and proposals.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in a related position.
  • Advanced knowledge of computer software including Microsoft Office and web analytics tools.
  • A four-year college degree or equivalent education/experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of sales/marketing, catering, Food & Beverage, and hospitality principles and practices.
  • Highly developed communication skills for negotiation and influence.
  • Ability to analyze current activities and make logical conclusions and recommendations.
  • Knowledge of property safety and security procedures.
  • Excellent customer service and sales skills.
  • Energetic and outgoing personality.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to follow directions with attention to detail, speed, and accuracy.
  • Team player with the ability to work under minimal supervision.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic financial understanding and arithmetic skills.
  • Typing speed of 45 wpm and ability to input data on a computer.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Opera software.
  • Knowledge of social media marketing.
