About the position

Hotel Washington is seeking a dynamic, service-oriented Sales Manager to join their team. The role focuses on driving customer loyalty, managing business travel accounts, and maximizing revenue opportunities through effective sales strategies. The Sales Manager will represent the hotel brand, negotiate group business, and actively source new accounts while ensuring service excellence in all customer interactions. This position is integral to the hotel's success and aims to foster a positive impact through hospitality and service culture.

Responsibilities

  • Learn and understand the hotel brand and its strategy to effectively represent it to clients.
  • Drive customer loyalty by ensuring service excellence in all customer interactions.
  • Manage and grow business travel accounts, focusing on maximizing revenue opportunities.
  • Upsell hotel services and guest accommodations at every opportunity.
  • Negotiate group business, including guest room rates, meeting room rentals, and hotel services, ensuring revenue goals are met.
  • Oversee all aspects of solicitation, closing, and follow-up communications with clients.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of all bookings and lost business in the sales system.
  • Actively source new accounts through various channels such as cold calls, telemarketing, emails, and in-person meetings.
  • Build and maintain a target list of accounts and communicate updates with the Director of Sales (DOS).
  • Attend property-specific receptions, conduct sales blitzes, and participate in local industry events to generate leads.
  • Build relationships with local businesses and industry associations.
  • Stay informed about market trends, competitors, and industry changes.
  • Maintain relationships with competitors to understand market dynamics.
  • Conduct tours for potential clients, respond promptly to inquiries, and submit accurate proposals and information.
  • Consistently meet or exceed set sales targets, revenue goals, and activity benchmarks.
  • Represent the hotel at trade shows, attend local market sales trips, and build relationships with feeder cities.
  • Perform additional tasks to support overall business objectives as needed.

Requirements

  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Experience in sales within the hospitality industry, particularly group business and corporate accounts.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with clients, local businesses, and industry partners.
  • Knowledge of sales systems and SOP (Standard Operating Procedures) for tracking bookings and sales activities.
  • Ability to multitask, organize, and follow up on sales leads.
  • Minimum of High School education, post-high school education preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) years in hotel service role or sales experience preferred.
