About the position

The Territory Sales Manager at BlueLinx is responsible for managing existing customer relationships while actively seeking new sales opportunities within the region. This role requires a proactive 'hunter' mentality to drive growth and enhance customer engagement. The position offers a solid base salary complemented by a commission structure, emphasizing the importance of relationship building and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Identifies new sales opportunities with new and existing customers.
  • Maximizes sales efforts by focusing on the largest and most profitable opportunities.
  • Improves profitability, product penetration, and product mix with all customers.
  • Qualifies sales opportunities through market/customer research and collaboration with inside sales representatives.
  • Develops sales solutions and competitive pricing strategies.
  • Communicates value propositions to customers.
  • Proposes sales solutions and reevaluates them as necessary.
  • Closes sales opportunities by gaining purchase orders and executing order fulfillment procedures.
  • Provides outstanding customer service and post-sales satisfaction to facilitate long-term relationships.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent industry experience strongly preferred.
  • 4+ years of experience as a sales driver.
  • Ability to manage an established book of business and increase partnerships.
  • Knowledge of building materials is a plus.
  • Strong planning, organization, communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Proficiency in account management, scheduling, customer support, product knowledge, and sales support.
  • Self-motivated and driven individual with basic telephone skills.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite and relevant sales systems technology.

Nice-to-haves

  • MS/MBA degree is a plus.
  • Building material knowledge is a plus.
