About the position

The Sandwich Artist® is a vital role within our restaurant, responsible for providing exceptional guest service while preparing and serving food. This position requires a cheerful and helpful demeanor, as the Sandwich Artist greets guests, takes their orders, and ensures that their dining experience is pleasant and efficient. The Sandwich Artist must demonstrate a complete understanding of the menu items, accurately explaining them to guests and ensuring that their orders are prepared according to Subway® standards. This role also involves using a Point of Sale system to record orders, compute bills, and handle payments, which requires attention to detail and accuracy in cash handling. In addition to customer service, the Sandwich Artist is responsible for maintaining food safety and sanitation standards. This includes preparing food neatly and in a timely manner, checking products in the sandwich unit area, and restocking items as necessary to ensure a sufficient supply throughout the shift. The Sandwich Artist must adhere to proper food handling procedures and maintain cleanliness in all areas of the restaurant, promoting a clean image that aligns with Subway® Operations Manual standards. Light paperwork duties may also be assigned, and the Sandwich Artist is expected to complete University of Subway® courses as directed to enhance their skills and knowledge. This position requires physical stamina, as the Sandwich Artist must be able to work in various areas of the restaurant, operate a computerized Point of Sale system, and perform tasks that involve bending, standing, and walking throughout the entire workday. The ability to lift up to 30 pounds occasionally is also necessary. Overall, the Sandwich Artist plays a crucial role in delivering a positive dining experience for guests while upholding the quality and standards of Subway®.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and serve guests in a cheerful and helpful manner.
  • Prepare food according to Subway® standards and in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrate a complete understanding of menu items and explain them to guests accurately.
  • Use Point of Sale system/cash register to record orders and compute bills.
  • Collect payment from guests and make change accurately.
  • Perform Cash-In Procedure, accounting for all forms of money during the shift.
  • Check products in sandwich unit area and restock items as necessary.
  • Adhere to proper food handling, safety, and sanitation standards during food preparation and service.
  • Clean and maintain all areas of the restaurant to promote a clean image.
  • Understand and adhere to the Wash, Rinse, and Sanitize method of cleaning.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and grooming standards as outlined in the Subway® Operations Manual.
  • Complete light paperwork duties as assigned.
  • Complete University of Subway® courses as directed.

Requirements

  • Some high school education or equivalent is required.
  • No previous experience is required for this position.
  • Ability to understand and implement written and verbal instructions is necessary.
  • Must be able to work in any area of the restaurant when needed.
  • Ability to operate a computerized Point of Sale system/cash register is required.
  • Physical ability to bend, stand, and walk the entire workday is necessary.
  • Must have the ability to lift 10 pounds frequently and up to 30 pounds occasionally.
