About the position

The Sandwich Artist is a vital role within our restaurant, responsible for providing exceptional guest service while preparing and serving food. This position requires a cheerful demeanor and a helpful attitude, as the Sandwich Artist greets guests and takes their orders. A thorough understanding of the menu items is essential, as the Sandwich Artist must accurately explain these items to guests. The role involves using a Point of Sale system to record orders and process payments, ensuring that all transactions are handled efficiently and accurately. In addition to customer service, the Sandwich Artist is tasked with maintaining food safety and sanitation standards. This includes preparing food according to established formulas and procedures, restocking items in the sandwich unit area, and adhering to proper food handling practices. The Sandwich Artist must also keep the restaurant clean and organized, following the Wash, Rinse, and Sanitize method of cleaning. The position may require performing light paperwork duties and completing training courses as directed. The Sandwich Artist must maintain a professional appearance and grooming standards as outlined in the Subway Operations Manual. This role is essential in creating a positive dining experience for our guests and ensuring that all food safety standards are met.

Responsibilities

  • Greet guests and prepare their orders in a cheerful and helpful manner.
  • Demonstrate a complete understanding of menu items and explain them accurately to guests.
  • Use Point of Sale system/cash register to record orders and compute bills.
  • Collect payment from guests and make change accurately.
  • Perform Cash-In Procedure, accounting for all forms of money and products during the shift.
  • Prepare food neatly and in a timely manner according to established formulas.
  • Check products in the sandwich unit area and restock items as needed throughout the shift.
  • Adhere to proper food handling, safety, and sanitation standards during food preparation and service.
  • Clean and maintain all areas of the restaurant to promote a clean image.
  • Understand and adhere to the Wash, Rinse, and Sanitize method of cleaning.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and grooming standards as outlined in the Subway Operations Manual.
  • Perform light paperwork duties as assigned.
  • Complete University of Subway courses as directed.

Requirements

  • Some high school education or equivalent is required.
  • No previous experience is required for this position.
  • Ability to understand and implement written and verbal instructions is necessary.
  • Must be able to work in any area of the restaurant as needed.
  • Ability to operate a computerized Point of Sale system/cash register is required.
  • Position requires bending, standing, and walking for the entire workday.
  • Must have the ability to lift 10 pounds frequently and up to 30 pounds occasionally.
