About the position

We are looking for a Product Manager to join our team and support the Savory Flavors & Ingredients business in North America. This position is a key member of the Sensient team, where you will be required to collaborate onsite in Hoffman Estates, 5 days per week. In this role, you will lead holistic product strategy, including market and segment analysis, competitive analysis, pricing best practices, go-to-market strategy, and product differentiation. This position works cross-functionally in the organization and has customer-facing interactions. You will be a pivotal member to define and take stake in Sensient's success roadmap.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a deep understanding of products, how they are made and their value propositions
  • Define strategies and implement tactics that support portfolio growth
  • Support S&OP process, new item introduction, and long-term health of our portfolio via SKU optimization
  • Work with Senior Leadership to outline targets (growth rate, revenue, margin, profit criteria)
  • Guide pricing team for setting product line pricing strategy, and pricing elasticities, including floor pricing and pricing individual SKUs
  • Collaborate closely with Finance and Manufacturing Operations to proactively identify and improve processes to eliminate bottlenecks
  • Provide thought leadership in managing all portfolio aspects
  • Work with our Sales Team as the product expert and visit customers as needed
  • Collaborate with global product management peers to monitor market trends and competitive actions
  • Work closely with our Sales Team to understand customer satisfaction drivers
  • Play a vital role in preparing new product launch plans to ensure launch readiness
  • Collaborate with our Innovation Team to identify gaps and product enhancements needed to solve taste challenges
  • Work closely with Marketing and R&D to identify the true potential of a new product (Size of Price) and post-launch performance analysis
  • Understand the competitive landscape
  • Closely monitor the portfolio landscape, including competitive launches
  • Identify potential strengths and gaps in products, processes, and technologies

Requirements

  • 4-7 years of experience in a technical product management role, preferably in the food or flavor business
  • Technical Bachelor's Degree in Food Science or Engineering with an MBA preferred
  • Strong commercial acumen, with a proven ability to make choices and prioritize projects concerning the business opportunity they represent
  • Analytical and detailed mindset. Comfortable discussing technical details
  • Excellent leadership, communication skills and the ability to navigate in a complex matrix organization
  • Action-oriented, self-starter, and demonstrated ability to make decisions with managerial courage
  • Creative thinker and team player, enjoy customer contact working in a fast-paced environment
  • Strongly identify and interpret customer, consumer, and market trends
  • Excellent Microsoft Office Skills
  • Working knowledge of CRM platforms, especially Salesforce
  • Knowledge of ERP systems is a plus
