Position Title: SBA Credit Underwriter Business Unit: Credit Reports to: SBA Credit Officer Position Overview: This position is primarily responsible for preparing financial analyses of current and prospective SBA loan customers, spreading financial statements, analyzing industry and economic conditions, completing cash flow analysis and full underwriting package. The candidate must be proficient in SBA SOP to make loan approvals within delegated loan authority and recommendations as to the approval and creditworthiness of borrowers outside of their loan authority in order to protect the Bank from loss. The incumbent provides the highest quality of service to customers. Primary Responsibilities: Analyzes the creditworthiness of borrowers, identifies key credit issues and prepares a complete written analysis in accordance with SBA SOP and bank policies and procedures, including accurate and timely completion of credit memo and all components thereof before making a recommendation independently or along with management. Acts as a point of contact for internal sales partners for loan structure and eligibility for various SBA transactions while demonstrating excellent communication skills and uses those communication skills to voice opinion in a clear, concise manner to effectively solve problems/make recommendations regarding credit structure, risk, and policy compliance. Work with SBA Lending partners on pre-application identification of credit issues to provide structural, analytical, and indicate risk assessment while using bank policy and procedure/SBA SOP as a background for justification, and assist with the closing process with general knowledge of loan documentation process and procedure. Researches various industries utilizing available resources and summarizes information regarding current and projected status of industries, markets, and general economic trends and conditions in order to perform an effective customer interview and develop a formal loan decision based on facts, data and personal judgement. Develops a personal program for maintaining an adequate level of knowledge in banking matters, compliance, credit analysis, policies and procedures and personal skills and demonstrates interpersonal behavior, attitude, judgment, communication and initiative with customers and employees to ensure an acceptable degree of performance. Performs other related duties and projects as assigned.
