About The Position

The SCADA / MES Engineer at Allied Mineral Products will design and implement data engineering solutions aimed at enhancing efficiency, reducing costs, and improving environmental health and safety within manufacturing processes. This role focuses on transforming raw data into actionable insights to support manufacturing and engineering strategies, collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure data reliability and quality.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science engineering, electrical engineering, data analytics, statistics, IT, or a similar technical field.
  • 5 to 10 years of experience as a data engineer or in a similar role, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Data engineering certification or a graduate degree in a quantitative field is a plus.
  • Technical expertise with data models, data mining, and segmentation techniques.
  • Knowledge of programming languages such as Java and Python.
  • Advanced SQL knowledge and experience with relational databases.
  • Experience building and optimizing big data pipelines and architectures.
  • Experience performing root cause analysis on data and processes.
  • Strong analytic skills with unstructured datasets.
  • Experience with message queuing, stream processing, and big data stores.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with ISA 88, ISA 95 standards.
  • Experience with SAP.

Responsibilities

  • Work with stakeholders including operations, plant engineering, R&D, and IT teams to understand business challenges and support their data infrastructure needs.
  • Assemble large, complex data sets that meet functional and non-functional business requirements.
  • Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements, including automating manual processes and optimizing data delivery.
  • Build the infrastructure for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from various sources using SQL and AWS technologies.
  • Develop analytics tools that provide insights into asset performance management and operational efficiency.
  • Ensure data security across multiple data centers and AWS regions.
  • Integrate hardware/sensors and software for IoT/Industry 4.0 applications.
  • Ensure data integrity for analysis and visualization solutions using SQL, Lab View, Ignition, and Microsoft Power BI.
  • Extract and analyze data to develop analytics reports and visualization toolsets.
  • Design and deploy manufacturing equipment controls and data acquisition infrastructure.
  • Lead equipment network asset management for the manufacturing process network.
  • Develop and interpret process and instrumentation diagrams into schematics and data acquisition plans.
  • Coordinate activities between R&D, Operations, and IT.
  • Function as the subject matter expert in data acquisition for engineering systems.
  • Coordinate outside contractors to complete assigned projects.
  • Provide training on data acquisition tools and applications.
  • Troubleshoot data availability issues and implement solutions to improve data integrity and security.
  • Maintain communication with engineering, operations, R&D, IT, and other departments.
  • Support manufacturing operations globally, with occasional travel required.
  • Maintain technical knowledge and stay current on emerging technologies.
