About the position

The School Aide position at the University Academy is designed to provide essential support to both students and teachers within the classroom environment. This role is pivotal in assisting with the direct instruction of students, whether individually or in small groups, under the supervision of a qualified teacher. The School Aide will play a crucial role in student management, ensuring that students are engaged and well-behaved both inside and outside the classroom. This includes responsibilities such as preparing instructional materials and organizing the classroom for daily lessons, which are vital for creating an effective learning environment. In addition to instructional support, the School Aide will be involved in various campus activities and duties as needed. This may include responsibilities such as overseeing breakfast and lunch duties, as well as assisting with pick-up duties. The position is structured to follow the University Academy District Calendar, which typically spans 192 days from mid-August to early June each school year. It is important to note that this position does not accrue vacation time, as summers are off, but the salary will be distributed over a 12-month period to ensure continuous pay and benefits throughout the summer months. The monthly salary will be prorated based on the number of school days remaining at a rate of $120 per day, depending on the start date.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with direct instruction of students (individually or in small groups) under the supervision of a teacher.
  • Assist in student management (in/out of classroom).
  • Prepare instructional materials and organize the classroom for daily lessons.
  • Assist with campus activities and duties as needed, including breakfast/lunch duty and pick-up duty.

Requirements

  • High school graduation or equivalent is required.
  • 2 years of relevant experience preferred.
  • College hours preferred.
  • Educational Aide certification preferred.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills are necessary.
  • General subject content knowledge is required.
  • General knowledge of curriculum and instruction is needed.
  • Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior is essential.
  • Experience working with special needs students is preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in software troubleshooting is a plus.
