About the position

The School Board Secretary plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the School Board's activities. This position is confidential and non-union, reflecting the sensitive nature of the responsibilities involved. As a part-time role, the Secretary is expected to work 12 months a year, with hours that may vary based on the needs of the School Board. The Secretary will coordinate and prepare for all School Board meetings, which includes conferring with the Superintendent to gather and assemble all necessary materials and packets required for these meetings. This preparation is vital for the effective functioning of the Board, as it ensures that all members have the information they need to make informed decisions. In addition to preparing for Board meetings, the Secretary will also be responsible for organizing materials for all policy committee meetings. This involves similar coordination with the Superintendent and ensuring that all relevant documents are ready for discussion. The Secretary will also prepare the Boardroom for meetings, ensuring that all necessary documents are assembled and ready to be signed. A key responsibility of the Secretary is to take minutes during meetings, which involves accurately recording discussions and decisions made during the meetings. After drafting the minutes, the Secretary will seek approval from the Superintendent, ensuring that the official record of the meetings is accurate and complete. The Secretary is expected to attend all regular and special school board meetings, as well as all policy committee meetings, making this role integral to the governance of the school district. The position offers a monthly pay of $750, and the posting will remain open until filled, indicating the ongoing need for this essential role within the district.

Responsibilities
