Under the direction of the Kitchen Manager or designee, perform skilled cooking or baking to ensure high quality, nutritious food production and service. This position may lead assigned staff in meal preparation, serving, and clean up. Responsibilities include preparing and serving attractive, high quality, nutritious, cost-effective meals following standardized procedures, completing tasks within allocated time, and complying with approved safety and sanitation procedures. The role also involves assisting in the cleaning of the kitchen, equipment, tables, and storeroom, maintaining appropriate food and supply inventories, and directing or assisting unit employees in meal preparation tasks as necessary. Additionally, the position requires maintaining required daily records and reports, collecting money and accounting for meals served, promoting Child Nutrition Services programs, and establishing cooperative working relations with others.
