About the position

The School Psychologist demonstrates professional expertise in psycho-educational assessment practices, interventions and crisis preparedness and response. School psychologists provide services to help all students succeed academically, socially, behaviorally and emotionally and support student growth and development. Conduct comprehensive evaluations for special education process, conduct Functional Behavioral Assessments, write and implement Behavioral Intervention Plans, provide IEP services, provide counseling for students in general and special education. Consult with staff regarding student needs.

Responsibilities

  • Complete comprehensive psycho-educational assessments in accordance with federal and state special education regulations and district policy for cognitive, academic, social/emotional, behavioral, adaptive behavior, sensory/motor and other factors pertinent to the student's learning capacity.
  • Write evaluation reports and interpret assessment findings to students, parents, staff and other pertinent parties.
  • Present findings in appropriate settings.
  • Use data driven decision making to plan and deliver services.
  • Assist in the identification of students who are at risk educationally.
  • Participate in school-based pre-referral activities.
  • Assist staff in the assessment of relevant student data.
  • Assist in the design of programs for at risk students.
  • Assist in school-wide initiatives to improve school safety and student success.
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of behavior management programs and behavioral support plans.
  • Provide crisis counseling and intervention as well as group counseling to address academic, social and developmental concerns.
  • Participate in various school-based teams to assist in the intervention and planning of programs.
  • Connect families with service providers as needed.
  • Provide training/development for staff as required.
  • Collaborate with all members of the education team.
  • Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Requirements

  • Massachusetts DESE School Psychologist license, all levels.
  • Masters or higher degree.
  • Bilingual preferred.
  • Successful completion of Criminal Records Check (CORI), and fingerprints.
