About The Position

The Scientist, Project Engineering role at L3Harris is a professional expert position within the IMS Segment Project Engineering Center of Excellence (CoE). This position focuses on enhancing engineering rigor through independent technical reviews, proposal evaluations, and strategic project engineering initiatives. The successful candidate will collaborate with various teams to ensure effective execution of engineering work across multiple programs and will be expected to act as a change agent within the organization.

Requirements

  • Mastery level knowledge in a specific technical area or multiple job areas, typically obtained through advanced education and experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 12 years of relevant experience or a Graduate Degree with a minimum of 10 years of related experience.
  • Experience in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or Project Engineering.
  • Leadership experience as a Task or IPT Leader and/or in Functional Management.
  • Competency as an EVMS Practitioner.
  • US Citizenship.

Nice To Haves

  • Business degree (BS, MBA) highly desirable.
  • Aerospace and Defense experience outside L3Harris is highly desirable.
  • Experience in Capture and Proposal Development.
  • Familiarity with the entire Program/Engineering Life Cycle Phases and Activities.
  • Demonstrated strategic mindset and strong project planning skills.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct troubled program deep-dives including EAC analysis and opportunity maximization.
  • Perform independent technical reviews and proposal technical & cost reviews.
  • Assist in the development and deployment of Project Engineering policies, processes, and training.
  • Support the development of PE strategy including organizational design and deployment planning.
  • Develop objectives, roadmaps, and plans to achieve IMS PE Team Key Results and initiatives.
  • Provide subject matter expertise for independent reviews of pursuits and programs.
  • Identify needs and develop PE command media, ensuring consensus and transition.
  • Collaborate with Segment and CHQ engineering leadership to execute business initiatives.
  • Mentor and coach high-potential PE engineers.
