About the position

The Scrum Master and Agile Coach at Taco Bell is a pivotal role focused on enhancing Agile maturity within teams. This position involves providing hands-on support and teaching best practices to cultivate an Agile mindset across the organization. The Scrum Master will work closely with Taco Bell's Digital innovation teams, also known as squads, to facilitate agile testing processes and ensure that teams can quickly capture value from high-impact, high-feasibility efforts. By leveraging insights from customer analytics, the Scrum Master will help create engaging experiences and offers that resonate with customers throughout their lifecycle. In this role, the Scrum Master will drive collaboration processes and tools that enable effective prioritization and delivery of committed work. They will implement mechanisms for continuous improvement, fostering a culture of experimentation and innovation to enhance processes, tools, and delivery methodologies. The Scrum Master will facilitate team meetings to prioritize work effectively, ensuring visibility and prioritization that drive successful program and test execution. Proactively identifying and addressing risks and issues, the Scrum Master will implement mitigation strategies and maintain clear communication with stakeholders regarding delivery plans and potential risks. Creating a trusting and safe environment is essential, where team members feel comfortable raising problems and being accountable. The Scrum Master will also identify opportunities to strengthen the understanding of Agile concepts, principles, and practices within the team. Coaching and building Agile capabilities for team members through one-on-one embedded coaching, problem-solving lessons, and training on Agile best practices will be key responsibilities. Collaboration with other Scrum Masters and Agile Coaches will be encouraged to share best practices, address challenges, and promote a unified approach to Agile implementation across teams.

Responsibilities

  • Drive collaboration processes and tools for effective prioritization and delivery of committed work
  • Implement mechanisms for continuous improvement, fostering experimentation and innovation to enhance processes, tools, and delivery methodologies
  • Facilitate team meetings to effectively prioritize work, ensuring effective visibility and prioritization to drive successful program and test execution
  • Proactively identify and address risks and issues, implement mitigation strategies, and maintain clear communication with stakeholders regarding delivery plans and potential risks
  • Facilitate a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised by being accountable & transparent
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen the understanding of Agile concepts, principles, and practices
  • Coach and build Agile capabilities for team members through 1:1 embedded coaching, problem-solving lessons, and occasionally train the team on Agile best practices
  • Collaborate with other Scrum Masters and Agile Coaches to share best practices, address challenges, and promote a unified approach to Agile implementation across teams

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with 6+ years leading multiple agile teams simultaneously using scrum and other agile methodologies
  • Current certification in Scrum is highly preferred (e.g. SAFe Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Certified Scrum Professional (CSP), Kanban, Scrumban, Lean, etc.)
  • Expertise with various agile and software development tools (e.g. JIRA, Confluence, or Monday.com)
  • Demonstrable history of leading various agile/scrum projects for cross-functional and highly matrixed organizations
  • Ability to influence and coach executives, leaders, and team members (technical and non-technical) on continually growing the agile practice and mindset
  • Excellent communication, capable of conveying information clearly and promptly with technical and non-technical teams
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational and analytical skills, with the ability to coach and mentor at any level
  • Assertive and authoritative in aligning teams with Agile methodologies
  • Fail-fast mentality of testing & learning
  • Detail-oriented, pushes to understand detail to assess dependencies / risks / blockers
