About the position

At Sea-Bird Scientific, a Veralto company, you will be part of a team that is dedicated to enhancing production efficiency and supporting the health and sustainability of our oceans. As the Production Engineering Manager, you will report to the VP of Operations and Service and play a key role in driving process improvements and optimizing product manufacturability. This position is located in Bellevue, WA and is part of the Operations Management team, where you will lead a team of electrical and mechanical engineers to uphold the highest manufacturing standards while collaborating closely with operations supervisors and technicians.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of electrical and mechanical engineers working on multidisciplinary systems, providing guidance and fostering a culture of growth and development.
  • Enhance manufacturing efficiency by optimizing the design of fixtures and tools for improved manufacturability.
  • Leverage real-time data and insights from Gemba to identify and resolve operational issues, preventing line-down situations.
  • Work cross-functionally with operations managers and the supply chain director to ensure on-time product delivery by addressing manufacturing challenges.
  • Oversee the creation and maintenance of Work Instructions to ensure consistency and accuracy in production processes.
  • Lead and actively participate in Kaizen events, driving continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support New Product Development (NPD) by owning manufacturing readiness preparations, ensuring a seamless transition from design to production.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, operations, supply chain, service, and support, to align and optimize all aspects of production processes.

Requirements

  • Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, or Systems Engineering
  • 5+ years' experience in manufacturing processes
  • At least 3+ years of people leadership experience
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience in process control and process improvement methods (VES)

Nice-to-haves

  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt or equivalent
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and collaboration skills
  • Experience managing multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
  • Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment, collaborating with colleagues from different backgrounds and disciplines
