About the position

The Seamstress at Wind Creek Chicago Southland is responsible for providing expert alteration services for employee uniforms, ensuring they meet policy standards and are well-fitting. This role involves various sewing tasks, inventory management, and assisting with uniform processing, all while maintaining a positive and engaging atmosphere for employees.

Responsibilities

• Perform alterations on all departmental uniforms including hems, cuffs, and repairs.
• Utilize machine and hand sewing techniques for various uniform components such as buttons, zippers, and patches.
• Greet employees to assess their tailoring needs and provide proper fittings.
• Maintain records of supplies used and report inventory needs to the manager.
• Keep the sewing area clean and organized.
• Perform weekly maintenance on sewing equipment to ensure proper functionality.
• Efficiently utilize materials to minimize waste.
• Schedule uniform fittings for new employees and meet deadlines for alterations.
• Assist with monthly inventory and uniform processing as needed.
• Communicate effectively with employees, adhering to customer service standards.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED required or currently enrolled in a GED program.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Knowledge and experience with sewing machine operation.
• Knowledge and experience with steam presser operation.
• Ability to speak, read, and write in English; secondary language acceptable.
• Positive attitude and enjoyment in sewing work.
• Willingness to work any shift in a 24-hour establishment.
• Ability to perform sewing alterations and use various sewing tools and machines.
• Must have an Occupational License or the ability to obtain one.

Nice-to-haves

• Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and systems, particularly Microsoft Word.
