About the position

The Secondary Markets Portfolio Product Owner Manager at Freddie Mac plays a crucial role in enhancing the housing finance system by leading the Loan Selling Advisor team. This position focuses on understanding customer needs, utilizing technology to deliver value, and driving product strategy within a scaled Agile framework. The Product Owner is responsible for defining the product roadmap, prioritizing the backlog, and ensuring alignment with business strategy to deliver effective solutions that enhance customer experience.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out the Portfolio vision and define the 'How' on the product roadmap as a leader on the Agile team.
  • Identify market/customer needs and Return on Investment through Customer Experience practices.
  • Understand customer operational processes to design and define implementable solutions.
  • Apply business strategy to prioritize the product backlog effectively.
  • Use data & analytics to assess the value of proposed ideas and implementation approaches.
  • Act as the principal contact for the Loan Delivery Product team, representing the product as a subject matter expert.
  • Interact with customers and internal staff to gather feedback on solutions and designs.
  • Set a clear product vision and communicate effectively to key customers and the team.
  • Own the end-to-end product strategy from inception to production.
  • Ensure alignment of product features and stories, reviewing and prioritizing user stories accordingly.
  • Continuously improve the backlog with the team, ensuring clarity and prioritization of items.
  • Ensure customer-focused design considering usability test results and market knowledge.
  • Approve features and provide valuable feedback for the team.
  • Drive sprint and release plans in collaboration with the Scrum Master and technology teams.
  • Facilitate collaboration across organizational teams to implement new capabilities.
  • Communicate value and status to various partners and management levels.
  • Participate or lead activities supporting system development and deployment.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of mortgage-related experience with demonstrable experience in the primary mortgage market or comparable settings.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand business needs and deliver related value.
  • Experience delivering large, sophisticated organizational change projects involving multiple teams.
  • Ability to operate in ambiguous situations and manage multiple concurrent assignments.
  • Outstanding interpersonal, technical, and organizational skills.
  • Proven leadership experience in product development.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Agile methodologies and frameworks.
  • Familiarity with customer experience practices and journey mapping.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
