About the position

The Secretary 3 position in the High School Guidance Office at Omaha Public Schools is a full-time role starting in August 2024. This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent and previous office experience. The successful candidate will demonstrate proficiency in keyboarding and recordkeeping, as well as knowledge of office equipment and various District software systems. The role demands a willingness to take initiative and work independently, along with the ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and the public with tact, courtesy, and sensitivity. Professionalism, excellent attendance, and a strong work ethic are essential attributes for this position. The Secretary will be responsible for maintaining strict confidentiality and will need to possess good proofreading skills, exceptional organizational abilities, and the capacity to multi-task effectively. The work schedule consists of 202 days over a 10-month period, with hours set at 8.0 hours per day from Monday to Friday. The Secretary will report directly to the Building Principal and will be expected to perform various administrative tasks, including answering phones, directing calls, and typing correspondence for counselors. Additionally, the Secretary will assist in coordinating special service programs and managing student cumulative folders. The role may also involve accepting additional duties as assigned by the Guidance Director. Overall, this position plays a crucial role in supporting the guidance office's operations and ensuring effective communication within the school community.

Responsibilities

  • Answer phones and direct calls where needed

Requirements
