The Department Secretary is responsible for the overall coordination and clerical support to the department of Perioperative Services. This role acts as a departmental liaison between physicians, nursing units, ancillary units, anesthesia, and staff. The Secretary provides assistance with various projects, computer support, payroll, and billing. Additional duties include scheduling procedures, confirming and coordinating vendors and equipment, reconciliation of schedules, answering telephones, maintaining supplies and clerical inventory, and ensuring the functionality of office equipment. This position requires a proactive approach to managing the department's administrative needs and ensuring effective communication across various teams.

Responsibilities

  • Provide overall coordination and clerical support to the department of Perioperative Services.
  • Act as a departmental liaison between physicians, nursing units, ancillary units, anesthesia, and staff.

  • Schedule procedures and confirm and coordinate vendors and equipment.

Requirements

  • 1 year clerical experience in an acute care hospital setting
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Proficient with medical terminology
  • Ability to function in a high intensity environment
  • BLS certification
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
