About the position

The Security Officer position at McLaren Health Care involves ensuring the safety and security of the hospital environment. The role requires responding to emergencies, conducting regular patrols, providing customer service, and enforcing safety regulations to protect patients, visitors, and staff from potential hazards and criminal activities.

Responsibilities

  • Makes rounds inside and outside assigned areas, investigating and documenting unusual or suspicious incidents.
  • Provides assistance to other security personnel and hospital employees, and escorts visitors as necessary.
  • Observes and documents non-conformance of policies and procedures, including identification badge display and safety protocols.
  • Completes all required paperwork accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Handles confidential information with discretion and maintains confidentiality of all related information.
  • Responds to calls from nursing and other hospital departments to assist with disorderly patients and emergency situations.
  • Completes required training for carrying a Conducted Electrical Weapon (CEW)/Taser as per policy.
  • Uses pre-established scripts when answering phone calls and interacting with customers.
  • Participates in emergency preparedness drills and education as per departmental policies.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid state driver's license with a driving record within approved insurance regulations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Training beyond high school in related programs.
  • Previous experience in the health care industry.
  • Associate degree in criminal justice, security administration, or a related field.
  • Six months of prior work experience.
