About the position

The position involves performing various accounting assignments within a Business Unit or functional area, focusing on recording and reporting financial transactions, reconciling accounts, and ensuring compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley control requirements. The role includes producing accurate financial statements, participating in planning and analysis functions, and enhancing internal controls to support regulatory compliance and business planning.

Responsibilities

  • Support and participate in the monthly financial statement close process, ensuring accurate and timely recording of financial transactions and analyzing financial statements and variances.
  • Prepare, review, and analyze account reconciliations for designated functions, ensuring compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley control requirements.
  • Prepare monthly reporting packages, including analysis of current actual results to prior period results for internal and external reporting.
  • Interact with internal and external auditors, Controller's Group, and Business Units to accomplish goals.
  • Assist in special projects and implementation of changes in FASB/GAAP as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent.
  • 4-7 years of related experience.
  • Demonstrated technical knowledge of Accounting theory, principles, practices, and regulations including FASB/GAAP and SOX compliance.
  • Ability to document a broad range of technical issues and understand requirements for documentation in work papers, disclosures, and memos.
  • Successful use of technology to improve process efficiency.
  • Effective teambuilding and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated project management skills.
  • Commitment to the highest standards of quality and integrity.
  • Professional demeanor and respect for others.

Nice-to-haves

  • MBA with a concentration in Accounting or Finance.
  • CPA certification.
  • Public accounting experience.
  • Experience in regulatory/utility/FERC/SEC reporting or the energy industry.
