Agile coaches are industry-certified change agents who combine their technical knowledge of lean-agile values, principles, and practices with an intrinsic motivation to improve AT&T's software, systems, and Agile business processes. Using their broad Agile experience, Senior-Agile Coaches focus on identifying and initiating specific Agile team practices to reach outcomes defined through coach-customer collaboration. Having agreed upon desired outcomes, the Senior-Agile Coach engages in areas of instruction, demonstration, and organizational strategy through iterative coaching plans. Senior-Agile Coaches work primarily at team and team-of-teams levels mentoring Scrum Masters and Product Owners, and they often collaborate with more experienced coaches to support larger Agile Engagements. Senior-Agile Coaches contribute to public instruction of Agile principles and practices as content producers and co-instructors. Agile Coaches focus on driving transformation for the program which they are assigned and fully engaged. They are experts in helping teams mature in the use of agile principles and practices. They promote consistent behaviors and provide guidance to drive maturity. Agile Coaches guide and help teams on both the product and delivery side. An Agile Coach may function at varying levels depending on individual skill and experience combined with need of the engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and initiate specific Agile team practices to reach outcomes defined through coach-customer collaboration.
  • Engage in areas of instruction, demonstration, and organizational strategy through iterative coaching plans.
  • Mentor Scrum Masters and Product Owners at team and team-of-teams levels.
  • Collaborate with more experienced coaches to support larger Agile Engagements.
  • Contribute to public instruction of Agile principles and practices as content producers and co-instructors.
  • Communicate the vision for change by explaining not just how to work differently, but why.
  • Train and coach teams and team roles for basic agility and ART launch readiness through workshops, classes, and hands-on training.
  • Advise teams on ways to capture, visualize, and interpret flow metrics.
  • Provide strategies to improve team flow while maintaining awareness of scaled systems.
  • Assist Senior/Principal Coaches in performing Business Agility Assessments.

Requirements

  • Intermediate level experience in Agile coaching.
  • Industry certification in Agile methodologies.
  • Strong understanding of lean-agile values, principles, and practices.
  • Experience in mentoring Scrum Masters and Product Owners.
  • Ability to develop and implement iterative coaching plans.
  • Excellent communication skills to convey the vision for change.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework).
  • Familiarity with Delivery Pipelines and Flow principles.
  • Previous experience in a telecommunications or technology environment.
