About the position

The position involves applying in-depth knowledge of quantitative and analytical methods to complete assigned projects, potentially functioning as a project team lead. The role focuses on analyzing complex business and product processes to achieve effective business solutions, particularly in the actuarial informatics area.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with establishing and implementing results-based programs and innovative initiatives for the actuarial informatics area under general supervision.
  • Apply in-depth knowledge of the actuarial informatics field to provide feedback for decisions and innovation strategies that enhance organizational growth and visibility.
  • Analyze complex liabilities and risks within healthcare data to minimize potential costs.
  • Design complex solutions for actuarial and underwriting processes to optimize workflow and deliver the right user experience.
  • Communicate results and timelines for multiple projects to internal and external constituents.
  • Conduct routine maintenance and enhancements of existing systems to support the actuarial team.
  • Coach more junior colleagues in techniques, processes, and responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science or closely related field.
  • 2-5 years of relevant industry experience in areas such as Medicare Advantage, ACO, MSSP, ACO REACH, Healthcare Economics, Pricing, Reserving, Forecasting, Data Analytics.
  • Excellent quantitative analysis abilities, grounded in epidemiology, biostatistics, econometrics, health informatics, healthcare analytics or related field.
  • Strong SQL, SAS, Python, or R skills, with the ability to perform effective querying involving multiple tables and subqueries.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct nuanced analyses to produce accurate and unbiased results and present those results in data visualizations and reports.
  • Deep knowledge of standard methods for measuring health care utilization, spending, quality, and outcomes; risk adjustment; provider profiling; and related analytical tasks.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to present complex information in an understandable and compelling manner.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment where client satisfaction is key.

Nice-to-haves

  • Attainment, or close to the attainment, of Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA).
  • Experience with VRDC (CMS 100% Research Identifiable Files RIF) and/or LDS (5% Sample Data).
  • Prior experience in value-based care settings.
  • Proficient in Excel, Word and Power Point software.
