The Senior Data Engineer is a technical-facing role within an Information Services, Analytics, or Engineering organization that leverages business relationships to design, develop, and deploy analytics solutions. As such, the Senior Data Engineer works with Business Stakeholders, Data Engineers, Data Managers, Data Scientists, and Cloud Engineers to understand business needs and requirements, assess the impacts of those needs and translate them to data-driven and data-centric enterprise solutions and develop and build the published data layer objects and/or visualizations for consumption by the end user community. The Senior Data Engineer must create innovative and forward-facing visualizations that inspires a focus on business improvement and must be able to work with a variety of business and technical roles through the enterprise and not only be able to articulate business needs, but also be able to integrate input from other business and technical stakeholders to develop and implement enterprise, highly reliable, scalable, and secure solutions. In addition to impact assessments, the Senior Data Engineer must also be able to conduct root cause analysis and identify not only the proximate cause of an issue but also other conditions and factors that led to the occurrence of that issue. The Senior Data Engineer will deploy and propagate standard practices in development for data engineering, data/report modeling, data architecture, efficiency in product design, visualization efficiency, requirements gathering, business analysis and work with various technical and non-technical stakeholders to adopt such standard processes. The Senior Data Engineer will use a variety of tools to analyze data and collaborate with others to organize and catalog the data and to obtain insights from such data. The Senior Data Engineer will act as subject matter expert for certain data domains or practices, such as a skilled knowledge in certain key Electronic Medical Records (EMR) or business systems like clinical, quality, operational, revenue data or subject area or data flow and lineage or other focus areas.
