About the position

We are seeking a dynamic and motivated Senior Application Engineer to join our engineering team. In this role, you will play a crucial role in supporting the development of future Net Power plants by identifying and developing solutions for prospective customers using Net Power's platform technology in coordination with the technical and commercial teams. This position will be based in our Houston, TX or Durham, NC office. Net Power offers a hybrid work schedule, 3 days in office and 2 days remote.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the engineering interface to the Commercial and Origination teams, advancing customers through Net Power's technology licensing process.
  • Collaborate with potential licensees to understand their specific needs, objectives, and technical specifications to develop comprehensive technical proposals that effectively communicate the value of Net Power technology.
  • Run plant Aspen Plus simulations and develop deliverables including process flow diagrams, performance calculations and feasibility reports.
  • Collaborate with Process Engineering in sizing and selection of Net Power cycle components for technoeconomic optimization, manage interfaces between each strategic sub-system to ensure alignment.
  • Interface with Engineering, Project Management and Product Management teams to develop formalized proposals.
  • Support licensing process and development of technical exhibits working with customers and suppliers.
  • Contribute to next-generation product development efforts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET accredited college/university required. BS in Mechanical, Chemical or Electrical Engineering is preferred.
  • Master's degree in technical or business-related programs preferred.
  • At least five (5) years of experience in Application Engineering or a similar role, preferably within the power generation or petrochemical industry and 7-10 years of overall engineering experience.
  • Experience of tendering multi-discipline engineering solutions and utilizing multiple internal and external sources.
  • Solid understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and other relevant engineering principles.
  • Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, controls and instrumentation system experience is desirable.
  • Proficiency in modeling and simulation software required (e.g., Aspen Plus/HYSYS, MATLAB/Simulink, etc.).
  • Proficiency in CAD/PLM tools to generate full 3D models is a plus. (PLM - Team Center, Wind Chill or Enovia).
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with strong written and verbal skills.
  • Proficiency in project planning and solid organizational skills in a multi-tasking environment required.
  • Willingness to travel as needed to project sites, vendor facilities, and meetings with partners and stakeholders.
