About the position

The Senior Audit Manager will oversee Bank Fraud Management, Dispute Operations, and general banking engagements related to fraud. This role involves managing audit engagements, enhancing knowledge of fraud and financial crimes, and ensuring compliance with internal audit standards. The position requires effective communication with business clients and regulators, as well as the ability to identify control weaknesses and recommend improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Influences business and clients regarding effective internal controls and risk mitigation.
  • Manages audit engagement efforts and assignments of staff with varying expertise.
  • Prepares, reviews, and leads continuous monitoring and advisory activities.
  • Ensures audit engagements are completed objectively and in accordance with standards.
  • Approves engagement risk and control matrix and audit scope for final review.
  • Identifies control weaknesses and provides recommendations for improvement.
  • Responsible for quality of audit reviews and final signoff of work papers.
  • Leads team activities and provides feedback on audit planning and testing methodology.
  • Builds and enhances client relationships to drive strategic objectives.
  • Communicates effectively with business clients and may interact with regulators.
  • Provides recommendations on staffing assignments and guidance to staff members.
  • Coaches and guides auditors to ensure quality of deliverables.
  • Participates in the development of the Audit annual plan.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or Information Technology.
  • 8 years of audit, financial, insurance, banking, or related experience.
  • Experience performing internal or external audits in a complex environment.
  • Broad experience in audit theory and internal audit principles.
  • Demonstrated experience in communicating and challenging controls with business partners.
  • Understanding of risks and internal controls and their adequacy.
  • Experience mentoring and providing feedback to audit team members.
  • Experience overseeing work with internal and external partners.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and knowledge of data analysis tools.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior experience in a fraud-related role for a large financial institution.
  • Knowledge of industry frameworks and standards such as Reg Z, Reg E, etc.
  • Experience with compliance requirements including OCC Heightened Standards.
  • Fraud-related certification (e.g., CFE, CAMS) or relevant degree.
