About the position
The Senior Catering Sales Manager is responsible for building relationships with clients, understanding their needs, and selling hotel services that meet those needs. This role involves booking business in the Sales and Catering systems, confirming sales with contracts, and ensuring that all operational and event management teams have the necessary information to provide quality service. The position requires participation in various meetings and events to enhance sales efforts and maintain knowledge of market trends and competition.
Responsibilities
- Build rapport with clients and qualify their needs.
- Sell appropriate hotel services to meet client needs.
- Book business in the Sales and Catering systems and confirm sales with contracts.
- Prepare correspondence to customers and maintain internal booking reports.
- Ensure operations and event management have all necessary information to service groups.
- Participate in daily business review meetings and pre-convention meetings.
- Work with other hotel departments to provide quality service to customers.
- Attend trade shows, community events, and industry meetings.
- Develop and maintain knowledge of market trends, competition, and customers.
Requirements
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Professional demeanor and positive attitude.
- Mastery of the reactive and proactive sales process.
- Experience in qualifying group leads and closing business.
- Ability to find new business through prospecting efforts.
- Minimum of 4 years of catering sales experience.
- 4-year degree in business or equivalent hotel experience.
