About the position

Westinghouse Electric Company is seeking a Senior Chemical Engineer or Chemist to join our innovative team dedicated to providing clean energy solutions. In this role, you will support Component Engineering and Chemistry Operations, focusing on water chemistry activities that are crucial for operational efficiency and safety. Your responsibilities will include conducting operational chemistry assessments to manage secondary side chemistry and maintenance planning, interfacing with plant personnel and Westinghouse counterparts to support asset management, and planning chemistry programs while controlling changes effectively. You will leverage your expertise in General Chemistry to apply it to water chemistry control and material applications. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain experience related to plant operations, particularly in primary/fuel and reactor chemistry, as well as secondary/steam chemistry. You will be involved in problem-solving and troubleshooting plant systems, modification programs, and managing chemistry programs, ensuring that all operations align with safety and quality standards. Responsibilities

  • Support Component Engineering and Chemistry Operations water chemistry activities.
  • Conduct operational chemistry assessments to manage secondary side chemistry and maintenance planning.
  • Interface with plant personnel and Westinghouse counterparts to support asset management.
  • Plan chemistry programs and control changes effectively.
  • Apply General Chemistry expertise to water chemistry control and material applications.
  • Gain experience related to plant operations in primary/fuel and reactor chemistry and/or secondary/steam chemistry.
  • Engage in problem-solving and troubleshooting for plant systems and chemistry program management.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience required; 7 years preferred.
  • Knowledge of General Chemistry and data interpretation is required.
  • Pressurized Water Reactor (PWR) knowledge and/or expertise is required.
  • Knowledge of PWR secondary side chemistry and steam generator operation is required.
  • Technical writing experience and proficiency is required.
  • Strong communication skills for collaborative asset management planning are essential.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of PWR primary reactor coolant chemistry is preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of Analytical Chemistry methods, analysis, and data interpretation is preferred but not required.
