About the position

The Senior Chemical Engineer at IMEG Corporation will lead design efforts for moderate to complex projects, acting as a project manager or lead designer. This role involves providing engineering solutions and advice to clients, ensuring project delivery within budget, and mentoring junior staff. The position emphasizes collaboration with cross-functional teams to meet project goals and client expectations, while also focusing on sustainability and community impact.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate, oversee and manage projects ranging in size and complexity
  • Assist Project Executives and Client Executives with design scopes of work and fee calculations for proposal generation as well as with contract reviews
  • Create project schedules including targets for milestones and deadlines
  • Serve as the point of contact for teams and clients
  • Create monthly billings and submit financial information to Accounting in a timely manner; Update billing projections and estimated completion percentage for all projects monthly
  • Ensure design follows owner standards and requirements, IMEG standards and code requirements; Ensure design milestone deliverables are achieved, IMEG and client quality control processes are completed, and construction technical support occurs in a timely manner
  • Collaborate with design staff and coordinate scheduling of projects during all phases of design and construction; Schedule and lead progress meetings and provide meeting documentation
  • Conduct construction site visits and provide documentation as needed or requested
  • Respond to and resolve client/construction concerns; Manage change orders and obtain appropriate approvals
  • Train, mentor, and motivate staff
  • Build, maintain, and develop client relationships

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Chemical Engineering, or equivalent required
  • 7 years of experience minimum required, 8 preferred, in the engineering consulting or chemical process industry required
  • Demonstrated leadership traits in the Project Management career path
  • Strong technical and analytical skills including proficiency of principles in thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics relating to design in chemical process systems
  • Skilled in AutoCAD and AutoCAD Plant 3D
  • Ability to mentor, train, motivate, and lead others
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to travel up to 20% with occasional overnight stays

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with hazardous chemical codes and requirements preferred
  • Experience managing projects and leading teams preferred
  • PHA and HAZOP review experience preferred
