About the position

The Senior Chemical Engineer at IMEG will lead design efforts as a project manager or lead designer for moderate to complex projects, providing engineering solutions and advice to clients. This role involves project management, engineering analysis, and oversight of chemical processes, ensuring projects are delivered within budget and meet client expectations. The position emphasizes collaboration with cross-functional teams and mentoring junior staff, contributing to a culture of innovation and sustainability.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate, oversee and manage projects ranging in size and complexity
  • Assist Project Executives and Client Executives with design scopes of work and fee calculations for proposal generation as well as with contract reviews
  • Create project schedules including targets for milestones and deadlines
  • Serve as the point of contact for teams and clients
  • Create monthly billings and submit financial information to Accounting in a timely manner; Update billing projections and estimated completion percentage for all projects monthly
  • Ensure design follows owner standards and requirements, IMEG standards and code requirements; Ensure design milestone deliverables are achieved, IMEG and client quality control processes are completed, and construction technical support occurs in a timely manner
  • Collaborate with design staff and coordinate scheduling of projects during all phases of design and construction; Schedule and lead progress meetings and provide meeting documentation
  • Conduct construction site visits and provide documentation as needed or requested
  • Respond to and resolve client/construction concerns; Manage change orders and obtain appropriate approvals
  • Train, mentor, and motivate staff
  • Build, maintain, and develop client relationships

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Chemical Engineering, or equivalent required
  • 7 years of experience minimum required, 8 preferred, in the engineering consulting or chemical process industry required
  • Demonstrated leadership traits in the Project Management career path
  • Strong technical and analytical skills including proficiency of principles in thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics relating to design in chemical process systems
  • Skilled in AutoCAD and AutoCAD Plant 3D
  • Ability to mentor, train, motivate, and lead others
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Eagerness to adapt to new challenges
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to travel up to 20% with occasional overnight stays

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with hazardous chemical codes and requirements preferred
  • Experience managing projects and leading teams preferred
  • PHA and HAZOP review experience preferred
  • Associates degree, or certificate, in Building Information Modeling (BIM) or Engineering preferred
  • 11 years of experience minimum required, 12 preferred, in the engineering consulting or chemical process industry required
