About the position

Huntington Ingalls Industries: Mission Technologies Division is actively searching for a Cloud Engineer to join our team at WPAFB, in Dayton, Ohio, to help our customer AFRL/IZX National with ensuring the reliability, scalability, and performance of their existing cloud environment. The ideal candidate will have a passion for technology, a strong understanding of cloud software development principles, and the ability to make a big impact on our team. This highly skilled Cloud Engineer will need to have extensive experience in designing, deploying, and managing cloud-based solutions across AWS, Google Cloud, and Azure platforms. Proficient in cloud architecture, automation, and orchestration, with in-depth knowledge of services such as EC2, S3, RDS, GCP Compute Engine, BigQuery, Azure VM, SQL Database, and Functions. Expert in implementing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, optimizing cloud performance, ensuring security compliance, and managing multi-cloud environments. Adept at supporting and troubleshooting current cloud computing environments, leveraging cloud-native tools and services to enhance scalability, reliability, and cost-efficiency. Strong collaborator, effectively working with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative and robust cloud solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Builds, designs, implements, and refines cloud architectures.
  • Provides prescriptive guidance across the network and security.
  • Leads early scoping definitions and identifies critical dependencies.
  • Identifies and mitigates technology risks and develops architecture to support processes.
  • Collaborates with functional business units to drive business solutions and direction.
  • Develops and documents framework for integration and implementation of cloud systems.
  • Understands and determines sizing, capacity planning and requirements for infrastructure, network, and security in the cloud offering.

Requirements

  • 9 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 7 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 4 years relevant experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 13 years relevant experience.
  • A minimum of Secret-level clearance OR ability to obtain a clearance.
  • Appropriate DoD Certification is required or able to obtain within 6 months.

Nice-to-haves

  • Data Platform and Big Data: Azure SQL Databases, Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Azure Delta Lake, Synapse Azure Machine Learning and Cosmos DB
  • Azure PaaS Services: Service Bus, Event Hub, Event Grid, Azure Functions
  • Logging and Monitoring: Log Analytics and Azure Monitor. Creating workbooks and alerts. Monitor Azure cloud-based systems for availability, performance, reliability, security, etc.
  • Presentation: Azure Portal Dashboards
  • Identity and Authentication: Azure Active Directory, OAuth, OpenID, SAML2
  • REST APIs: Experience with Azure API Manager.
  • Security: Familiarity with HIPAA. Understanding of securing services through managed principals, service principals, networking, and firewalls. Understanding of Identity Management and implementation through the Azure services.
  • DevOps: Familiarity with Terraform and Terragrunt.
  • High Availability and Disaster Recovery: Understanding service availability for Azure services and implementing disaster recovery.
  • Experience in one or more automation languages (PowerShell, Python, C#)
  • Bonus experience to have: Azure Cognitive Services
