About the position

The Senior Credit Analyst plays a crucial role in assessing the creditworthiness of customers by gathering necessary information and performing detailed analyses. This position involves determining credit limits, managing customer data within the ERP system, and mentoring junior team members. The analyst will also prepare credit approval requests for executive review and maintain strong relationships with various internal teams and customers.

Responsibilities

  • Gather the information necessary (commercial credit reports, financial statements, etc.) to perform assessments of the credit worthiness of customers
  • Perform analysis to determine credit limits pursuant to company guidelines and risk of loss
  • Escalate credit, financial, and potential bankruptcy concerns pursuant to company guidelines
  • Administer customer data in company ERP system; including initial and post account set up
  • Mentor and assist in the training of members of the Credit Team
  • Prepare credit approval requests for executive level briefing and review
  • Administer the 'Customer Credit Analysis' report
  • Communicate to collections and sales teams, customers that may exceed their credit limit
  • Develop and maintain quality relationships with Sales, Account Managers, Collectors, and all Order-To-Cash team members
  • Evaluate requests for 'credit releases' on accounts exceeding credit limits
  • Initiate the customer on-boarding process after credit is approved
  • Respond to customer inquiries to establish and maintain positive communications and relationships with customers
  • Perform special projects and other duties as may be assigned from time to time by management

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred with an emphasis on Finance, Accounting or Business Administration
  • Minimum three to five years' experience in business to business credit analysis
  • Sound understanding of basic accounting principles
  • General familiarity with, and understanding of, financial statements, ratios, and concepts
  • Ability to document in an organized fashion
  • Ability to develop and prepare spreadsheets
  • Ability to clearly and concisely present summary of credit related issues
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to provide excellent customer care with a 'client service' mindset
  • Proficient in general computer use and MS Office applications; strong Excel skills required
  • Capable of adapting to a rapidly changing environment
  • Ability to effectively manage competing deadlines in a high-pressure work environment
  • Excellent analytical/problem solving skills
  • Interactive, team-oriented mindset with a motivation to enhance process improvement

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the transportation industry is preferred
  • Basic understanding of commercial bankruptcy laws
