About the position

The Senior Data Center Engineer is responsible for designing and managing the infrastructure of data centers, ensuring that power, space, cooling, and other standards are met. This role involves troubleshooting IT equipment issues, managing asset lifecycles, and collaborating with various stakeholders to maintain operational efficiency in a hybrid work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design and prepare data center white space to meet power, space, cooling, and infrastructure standards.
  • Provide general IT infrastructure skills and troubleshoot equipment issues systematically.
  • Execute processes for data center IT asset lifecycle management from installation to retirement.
  • Install and de-install network cabling and ensure PII data is handled according to guidelines.
  • Manage daily workload and after-hours support for on-site cable vendors.
  • Move equipment, racks, and materials within the data center.
  • Create CAD templates and set design standards for high-density deployments.
  • Generate and distribute reports related to data center operations.
  • Support engineers in understanding VLAN and network requirements for new technologies.
  • Perform asset management tasks in the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) and maintain CAD and DCIM data.
  • Prepare electrical quotes, manage circuit installations, and maintain PDU schedules.
  • Act as the first point of contact for connectivity, power, and cooling anomalies, and perform on-call roles.
  • Research, order, test, and select new technology products for data center solutions.
  • Provide inventory tracking and maintain valid counts of materials and supplies.
  • Monitor and respond to environmental, security, and equipment monitoring systems.
  • Engage with corporate services facilities management for MEP/environmental issues.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in maintenance and installation of mission-critical infrastructure systems in a data center.
  • Proven collaboration skills with experience engaging with peers and stakeholders.
  • Experience providing IT technical customer support.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Knowledge of IT infrastructure hardware, including design, use, repair, and maintenance.
  • Ability to use DCIM and CAD software for data center capacity planning.
  • Solid Microsoft Office skills and experience with collaboration software like Microsoft Teams/SharePoint and Zoom.
  • Capability to work in a physically demanding environment.
