About the position

The Network Engineer - Senior is responsible for supporting the stable operation of the in-house computer network (LAN/WAN) at SCL Health. This role involves planning, installing, configuring, maintaining, and optimizing network hardware, software, and communication links to ensure network availability. The position requires expertise in Data Center Networking, including Cisco ACI, F5 Load Balancers, and Citrix Netscaler, and involves diagnosing and resolving network problems. The engineer will also provide technical guidance and leadership to peers, ensuring compliance with IT security policies and promoting the organization's mission and values.

Responsibilities

  • Architect and implement highly available network core infrastructure.
  • Support and optimize network routing protocols such as BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, and others.
  • Perform Tier 3 Network support for Wide Area Network, Perimeter, and Data centers.
  • Maintain Cisco ACI (Cisco Application Centric Infrastructure).
  • Plan, lead, monitor, and control medium to large projects and implementations.
  • Integrate, implement, and document new technologies while supporting existing infrastructure.
  • Provide final tier on-site support prior to consultation with external resources.
  • Serve as a resource to colleagues and mentor other staff.
  • Ensure network compliance with IT Security policies.
  • Respond to customer requests and collaborate with staff for effective resolution.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field required.
  • Cisco - CCNA Data Center and/or CCNA Routing and Switching required.
  • Five (5) years of industry experience in supporting enterprise size network infrastructure required.
  • Bachelor's Degree may substitute 2 years of experience.
  • Expert knowledge and experience with enterprise class LAN and WAN devices such as firewalls, switches, and routers.
  • Expert level knowledge of Cisco hardware installation, configuration, and maintenance.
  • Expert level knowledge of layer 2 Ethernet switching and layer 3 IP Routing.
  • Strong knowledge in Software Defined Networking and SD-WAN technologies.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field preferred.
  • Cisco - CCNP Data Center and/or CCNP Routing and Switching preferred.
  • Five (5) or more years of experience in a Health care environment preferred.
