About the position

The Senior Data Infrastructure Engineer at Ford Motor Company is a critical role focused on managing and enhancing the shared cloud infrastructure, optimizing CI/CD pipelines, and ensuring system reliability. This position plays a key role in developing the Bedrock Internal Developer Platform, which supports cloud applications for connected vehicle experiences. The engineer will work on ensuring the stability and scalability of the platform while enabling product teams to develop and support these applications effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and optimize Bedrock cloud infrastructure, data infrastructure pipelines, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Monitor system health, ensure system reliability, and minimize system downtime.
  • Build tooling to enable developers to emit events and metrics and interact with telemetry effectively.
  • Build, deploy, and scale Observability infrastructure based on OpenTelemetry.
  • Define best practices for making systems and services measurable and collaborate with teams to apply these practices.
  • Collect, aggregate, and visualize metrics to provide actionable insights.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Software, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in software engineering, preferably in Java, Golang, or Kotlin.
  • 3+ years of experience with cloud-based infrastructure, preferably GCP.
  • 3+ years of experience with Kubernetes.
  • 4+ years of experience with observability and monitoring tools such as Dynatrace, New Relic, ELK, Splunk, Prometheus, DataDog, or similar.
  • 3+ years of experience building complex data pipelines, preferably in Apache Flink/Spark, Kafka, or Pulsar.
  • 3+ years of experience with databases such as Postgres, Cassandra, Yugabyte, or MongoDB.
