About the position

We are hiring a Sr. Data Scientist to advance our data science capabilities to enhance modeling efficiency and sophistication. Some responsibilities will include development of ML predictive models to support portfolio valuation and operational excellence; collaboration with business analysts; developing and improving foundational data science capabilities such as MLOps, applying advanced data science modeling algorithms and tools to revise and improve our predictive models. This position will act as the Data Science lead for innovative data science modeling technologies, coaching and mentoring other data scientists to apply the best practice, and collaborating with analytics and operations teams to deliver modeling products.

Responsibilities

  • Collecting, organizing, and analyzing a wide variety of data to engineer new features to support modeling and operational work and to enhance current models.
  • Partnering with manager to act as statistical consultant to colleagues across Encore around both business and experimental analytics.
  • Providing high-quality, independent ML model development for operational and experimental projects for both domestic and international partners.
  • Driving data science innovation and experimenting with advanced data science modeling technologies.
  • Mentoring and coaching junior data scientists.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Mathematics or a quantitative science with substantial coursework in statistics and design.
  • 2+ years of experience in Statistics, Mathematics, or a quantitative science.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office.
  • Expert understanding of relevant knowledge.
  • Intermediate to Advanced Proficiency in advanced Python and/or R.
  • Deep knowledge of advanced ML algorithms and packages.
  • Cloud computing and pipeline development and testing.
  • Expertise with the logic of credit scoring, and statistical techniques used to estimate credit and risk-based models.

Nice-to-haves

  • PhD degree in Statistics, Mathematics, or a quantitative science with substantial coursework in statistics and design.
  • 5+ years of experience in Statistics, Mathematics, or a quantitative science.
