About the position

This position offers a hybrid work schedule, allowing for a mix of in-office and remote work. The role focuses on utilizing and expanding academic knowledge in Power Systems to provide modeling and analytical support for interdisciplinary project teams. Responsibilities include supporting the interconnection of new power generation resources, such as wind, solar, and battery storage, as well as traditional thermal generation. The position involves conducting various power system studies and may require travel to client offices and project sites for on-site consultation.

Responsibilities

  • Provide power system modeling and analytical support for interdisciplinary project teams.
  • Support the interconnection of new power generation resources, including onshore and offshore wind, solar PV, and battery energy storage.
  • Conduct studies such as Power Flow, Short Circuit, Protection Coordination, and Arc Flash.
  • Perform analysis related to Transient and Dynamic Stability, Transient Over-voltage, Power Quality, and Harmonics.
  • Evaluate System Impact, Cable Ampacity, and Grounding.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with a focus on Power Systems; MSEE or Ph.D. required.
  • 5 or more years of related engineering experience.
  • Strong academic background in Power Systems Analysis.
  • Understanding of practical applications of electrical engineering and technology.
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles for technical plans and models.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Solid interpersonal skills and ability to guide others.

Nice-to-haves

  • Internship or work experience in performing power analysis, preferably in the power industry.
  • Experience with power systems analysis software such as PSS/E, PowerWorld, PSLF, TARA, CYME, Synergi, ETAP, SKM, PSCAD, and EMTP-RV.
  • Strong working knowledge of scripting languages such as Python and JavaScript.
  • Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam and designation as an Engineer in Training.
