About the position

Powell's Electrical Division is seeking an Electrical Engineer to develop custom engineered solutions using non-standard applications of Powell standard products. The role focuses on meeting customer specifications safely and economically, with responsibilities including designing power control rooms and ordering materials. The position is based in Southeast Houston, TX, and is available immediately.

Responsibilities

• Develop custom engineered solutions using non-standard applications of Powell standard products.
• Create standard products based on customer specifications.
• Design power control rooms using electrical standards.
• Order materials for engineering projects.
• Collaborate with senior engineers to check completed tasks.
• Attend in-house and outside training sessions.
• Participate in local professional associations.

Requirements

• BS Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technology, or a related area.
• Minimum 0-3 years of experience in an engineering role.
• Ability to apply product knowledge and technical skills to solve simple application problems independently with minimum supervision.
• Basic computer skills using Oracle, Word, and Excel.
• Ability to order material electronically.
• Advanced drafting/CAD skills, preferably in AutoCAD.
• Proficient with electrical design and circuitry.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical symbols and modify drawings.
• Basic understanding of power systems and relay applications as applied to products.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with safety rules and regulations in engineering environments.
• Familiarity with ISO policies and vendor products.
