At Boeing, our Electrical Engineers develop electronic and electrical system requirements using analytical and technical skills, translate requirements into system architectures and modify hardware and software designs for Boeing aircraft, unmanned vehicles and much more. The candidate will enable the Mission Systems organization to continue to expand its business base and will participate in advancing aircraft technology. The team performs research into advanced concepts and prototypes for various communication, sensor, electronic warfare and other electromagnetic systems and components. The team is also responsible for developing system/subsystem requirements, participating with Software engineers with real-time Operational Flight Program (OFP) development, subsystem/system testing, and evaluating system performance in Flight Test. Simulation and modeling is utilized to assist in requirements development, software development and offsets some Flight Test verification.

Responsibilities

• Understand and apply job practices, techniques, standards, principles, theories, and concepts
• Develop, document and maintain electronic and electrical system requirements according to customer desires and contract requirements
• Develop statement-of-work and technical performance specifications
• Analyze, translate and implement requirements into system architecture, hardware and software designs and interface specifications, showing traceability throughout the product lifecycle
• Test and validate to ensure system designs meet operational and functional requirements
• Resolve product integration issues and production anomalies
• Support fielded hardware and software over the entire product lifecycle
• Investigate emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product designs to meet projected requirements
• Monitor supplier performance to ensure system integration and compliance with requirements
• Develops and documents moderately complex electronic and electrical system requirements
• Designs hardware, software and interface specifications
• Assists in monitoring supplier performance to ensure system integration and compliance with requirements
• Solves problems concerning fielded hardware and software over the entire product lifecycle
• Research specific technology advances for potential application to company business need
• Lead work with customers to develop and document electronic and electrical system requirements on complex multi-tiered projects
• Lead analysis and translation of complex requirements into system architecture, hardware and software designs and interface specifications
• Lead testing and validation work on complex system designs to assure that operational and functional requirements are met
• Work with others to develop program test strategies
• Manage performance of critical suppliers to ensure system integration and compliance with requirements
• Conduct program independent reviews and report results to program leadership
• Provide critical support of fielded hardware and software over the entire product lifecycle
• Lead research into technology advances for potential application to company business needs
• Make recommendations for technology investments
• Recognized as a business unit-wide expert in process development and qualification, physical and functional integration and installation design and resolving supplier technical issues

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
• 14+ years of work related engineering experience with a Bachelor’s OR 12+ years of work related engineering with a Master’s OR 9+ years of work related engineering with a PhD

Nice-to-haves

• 5+ years of experience in the Mission Systems field on military aircraft
• Experience with Systems architecture
• Experience with System and Subsystem levels of requirements generation
• Experience using Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) process
• Familiarity with tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Git
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong collaboration and coordination skills
• Experience utilizing engineering processes
