About the position

The Senior Financial Analyst for Data Center Operations Finance at Amazon Web Services (AWS) plays a crucial role in providing financial support to drive operational efficiency and cost leadership in cloud computing. This position involves working closely with AWS management and internal stakeholders to deliver financial recommendations, prepare detailed financial models, manage the financial planning process, and analyze business results to support decision-making. The role is analytical and requires a strong passion for analytics, accountability, and the ability to influence business outcomes through financial insights.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the key business partner working directly with regional AWS management and other internal stakeholders to provide financial recommendations.
  • Prepare detailed financial models for business segments, drive business initiatives, and identify, implement, and deliver key operational efficiencies.
  • Manage the financial planning process, modeling, analyzing, and forecasting metrics that drive budgeting, forecasting, and business decisions.
  • Perform ad-hoc projects and analysis as needed.
  • Analyze business results for key takeaways to achieve business objectives.
  • Develop new processes to support the fast-growing, global AWS business.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, or a related analytical field (e.g., engineering, math, computer science), or Bachelor's degree and 3+ years of quantitative role (engineering, process re-engineering, quality assurance) experience.
  • 3+ years of participating in continuous improvement projects in your team to scale and improve controllership with measurable results experience.
  • Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards).

  • MBA, or CPA
  • Knowledge of Tableau
  • Six Sigma Black Belt
  • Experience with advanced use of SQL for data mining and business intelligence
  • Experience as a lean sensei, or experience working as a Quality Assurance Engineer
  • 4+ years of applying key financial performance indicators (KPIs) to analyses experience
  • 4+ years of creating process improvements with automation and analysis experience
  • 4+ years of identifying, leading, and executing opportunities to improve, automate, standardize or simplify finance or business tools and processes experience.
