About the position

The Senior Financial Underwriter at Humana plays a crucial role in the financial assessment of both renewing and prospective moderate to complex group accounts, specifically focusing on Dental, Vision, Life, and Disability products. This position involves handling moderately complex to complex issues where the analysis of situations or data necessitates a thorough evaluation of various factors. The Senior Financial Underwriter is responsible for preparing a range of financial reports for large accounts and providing rationale and support to other departments within the organization as well as to clients regarding rate computations and financial activities. This role also includes providing expense estimates and conducting accurate analyses of financial exhibits. As the Senior Financial Underwriter begins to influence the department's strategy, they are expected to make decisions on moderately complex to complex issues regarding the technical approach for project components, with work performed independently and considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignments.

Responsibilities

  • Compute rates for renewing and prospective moderate to complex group accounts focusing on Dental, Vision, Life, and Disability products.
  • Prepare a variety of financial reports for large accounts.
  • Provide rationale and support to other areas within the organization and to clients regarding rate computations and financial activity.
  • Provide expense estimates and accurate analysis of financial exhibits.
  • Begin to influence department's strategy.
  • Make decisions on moderately complex to complex issues regarding technical approach for project components.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5 or more years of underwriting or financial analysis/risk analysis experience with Dental, Vision, and/or Life lines of coverage.
  • Comprehensive understanding of risk pool management
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Access
  • Passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiences.
